Accessible beaches in Sardinia: the welcoming North-East
Sardinia has always been synonymous with unspoiled beauty, but today it also represents a model of inclusiveness. More and more coastal locations are investing in infrastructure to make beaches accessible to people with reduced mobility, offering services such as walkways, dedicated parking, equipped bathrooms, and amphibious chairs (known as JOB chairs), allowing safe entry into the water.
In the North-East of the island, particularly in Gallura and the Budoni area, there are many equipped beaches that allow everyone to enjoy the crystal-clear sea and the extraordinary Sardinian coastlines.

San Teodoro:
• La Cinta
Walkways, JOB chair, reserved parking. One of the most famous beaches in Sardinia, and now also one of the most inclusive. During the season (June to September), the Municipality offers assistance services for people with motor disabilities.

• Cala d’Ambra
Suitable for people with reduced mobility, with walkways and services at beach establishments. Amphibious chair available during high season, but it is advisable to check availability in advance with the establishments.

• Lu Impostu
Calm sea, fine sand, and accessibility support structures, such as some wooden walkways in the most frequented areas.

Olbia:
• Lido del Sole
Easily accessible for people with reduced mobility. Equipped with wooden walkways, reserved parking, and some beach establishments offer dedicated services such as beach chairs for disabled individuals and accessible toilets. The fine sand and shallow seabed make it particularly suitable for people with mobility needs. It is one of the most appreciated urban beaches for convenience and services. Its proximity to the city center makes it a practical and inclusive choice.

• Pittulongu
Easy access with walkways, accessible toilets, JOB chair, and dedicated parking. Tip: contact the chosen beach establishment before arriving to check for the availability of the JOB chair.

• Pellicano
A small cove near Pittulongu, more secluded but equipped with basic services for easier access. Suitable for those with slightly reduced mobility, but not suitable for unassisted wheelchair users.

• Porto Istana
Shallow waters, very white sand, and guaranteed accessibility with JOB chair and dedicated services. The Municipality of Olbia has listed Porto Istana among the recommended beaches for accessibility in its tourist materials.

Santa Teresa Gallura:
• Rena Bianca
Awarded annually for the quality of its waters and service efficiency. Equipped with a JOB chair (managed by the Municipality), wooden walkways up to the shoreline, nearby disabled parking, accessible toilets, and assistance during high season.

Arzachena – Costa Smeralda™:
• Liscia Ruja
A long beach that is partially accessible, where some beach facilities offer support and amphibious chairs. Disabled parking is available, but access to the beach may be difficult for non-autonomous individuals.

Budoni:
• Lu Nibaru
JOB chair available at the "Cala Budoni" rental, accessible toilet, walkway up to the shoreline, and reserved parking.

• Sa Capannizza
Two equipped access points: “Lu Paradisu” kiosk and “Sa Capannizza” bar-pizzeria, both with JOB chair, toilet, walkway, and dedicated parking.

• Sant’Anna
JOB chair available at the “Shardana” restaurant, accessible bathroom inside the restaurant, walkway, and parking for people with disabilities.

Useful information
Some of these beaches are part of the “Beaches for All” project, promoted by local public authorities. During the high season, many locations offer lifeguard assistance services for people with disabilities, available by reservation.
It should be noted that the availability of JOB chairs may vary, so it is recommended to check in advance with municipal tourist offices or directly contact the beach establishments.

An opportunity to live and invest in a more accessible Sardinia
Attention to inclusiveness is not only a social value, but also an increasingly sought-after criterion for those looking to buy a home for personal use or as an income-generating investment through tourism. Choosing a location that guarantees access for all means investing in a welcoming, modern, and well-being-oriented territory. An accessible sea is a sea that belongs to everyone.
